Unlimited Prepaid Texting ? Is that an oxymoron?

The major cell phone companies have raised there rates significantly on texting.   I think there are a couple of reasons.  Some People that text a lot do not talk much.  The Network companies want to get as much revenue out of heavy users as possible.

Here are some Prepaid Texting Options

Alltel Prepaid Texting
Alltel has been bought by Verizon.  Alltel has a plan that you can choose unlimited texting  for 75 cents per day.  Verizon will probably eliminate this plan when the takeover is complete.

Net10 prepaid Texting
Normally Net 10 charges .5 units to text.  If you buy one of the Super Net 10 phone 5 cent minute deals you can get minutes for 5 cents which means you will get texts for 2.5 cents each.

Net 10 is offering an Unlimited Plan that is $80 for 30 days.  This plan is payable in advance for one month on your charge or debit card.  You get unlimited calling to anyone and unlimited text messages to anyone for the month.  You can start or stop this plan without a penalty.

Tracfone Prepaid Texting
Tracfone normally charges .3 units per text.  They do not have an unlimited texting plan.

Verizon Prepaid Texting
Verizon has an unlimited texting prepaid plan.  If you pay an extra $10 per month you can get unlimited texting to other Verizon users.  If you pay an extra $20 a month you can get unlimited text messages to any cell phone.  You will be charge 99 cents per day for using your Verizon Pr
epaid Phone in addition to your monthly texting charge.

What is the Tracfone DMFL Trick?
If you want to keep a Tracfone wireless phone that does not have DMFL.  Buying the $50 card to add DMFL to your phone is too expensive.

Tracfone DMFL.
Unlimited Double minutes for life is a Tracfone program that comes with some of the more expensive phones.  You can add it to any phone for $50.  You can purchase some phones for as low as $20 that already have DMFL.  I do not recommend adding mintues to any phone without DMFL unless you use the DMFL Trick.

How can I get DMFL minutes on my non DMFL Phone?
You can put Doubled minutes on your non-DMFL phone.    Add the Tracfone Card you want to a DMFL phone.  Then Transfer the minutes and service time to your non DMFL phone.  This will take all the minutes and time off the DMFL phone.  You cannot transfer just part of the minutes to the other phone.

Family Tracfone Plan
This works great if several of your family members have Tracfones and they are not all DMFL.  Every body gets the benefit of DMFL without having to pay to add it to your phone.

Do Tracfone Minutes Roll over?
By keeping minutes and service time active your Tracfone service time or Minutes will roll over.  If your Tracfone service time expires you must reactivate within two months you will get to keep your minutes.  This rollover policy is different than most other prepaid phone service which do not roll over minutes or service time.  If you run completely out of minutes or do not refill before your service expires you will lose your tracfone number.

What is Tracfone DMFL?
Tracfone DMFL means Unlimited Double minutes for life of the phone.  This means for the life of the phone with DMFL any time you add a Tracfone Minute Card you will get twice as many minutes as the card has on it.

Can I Transfer DMFL?
The doubler card feature usually cannot be transferable to your next Tracfone if your current phone quits working or is lost or stolen.  Most of the nicer Tracfone phones now come with Double minutes.

Do not add Minutes to a Non DMFL Tracfone.
The Unlimited DMFL is such a better deal than a Tracfone without DMFL, l do not recommend adding a Tracfone card to any phone without DMFL.

Will I have a monthly payment with Tracfone Prepaid?
Yes with any cell phone you will have to either add minutes or buy service time for your phone on a regular basis.  With Tracfone Prepaid you can spend as little as $20 for three months.  Whenever you run low on Tracfone minutes or service time you will need to purchase and add another card.   The larger Tracfone cards give you more minutes per dollar spent.

What is the Best Value Tracfone Minute Card?
Tracfone cards come in several denominations. Minutes are more expensive on the smaller Tracfone Minute cards.  The $20, $30, $40, and $80 cards give you 90 days service time.  If your cell phone has DMFL then your cost per minute is half of the basic Tracfone without DMFL.

Tracfone Bonus Coupon Codes.

Currently the lowest price per minute is the $80 450/900 minute card.  Bonus codes change the rates a lot.  I always buy minutes by checking at Tracfone Coupon Codes for the latest deals and codes.

How much does it cost for Tracfone Minutes?
Tracfone minutes come on Prepaid Cards.  Tracfone Minutes and Units are the same thing.  These Tracfone cards add to your Tracfone and you will get both Minutes and Service time.

The $20 60/120 minute Tracfone card cost 33.3/16.6 cents per minute.
The $30 120/240 minute Tracfone Card cost 25/12.5 cents per minute.
The $40 200/400 minute Trafone Card cost 20/10 cents per minute.
The $80 450/900 minute Tracfone Card cost 17.2/8.8 cents per minute.
The $100 400/800 One year card will cost you 25/12.5 cents per minute and you get twelve months of service.

I never recommend addding minutes to a Tracfone that does not have DMFL.  You save so much on your minutes.

What is a Tracfone PIN number?
A Tracfone PIN number is a 15 digit number.  This is the number that will add minutes and service time to your phone.  When you buy a Tracfone Card you will find this number either on the receipt or on the back of the card.  On the Tracfone card your PIN number will be covered and you will need to scratch off the silver covering (much like a lottery ticket.)

The Tracfone PIN number is activated at the checkout counter when you buy your card.  If someone were to steal a Tracfone card from Walmart or Target and then try to use the code on the card it would not work.

What is a Tracfone Bonus Code?
A bonus code is a 5 digit number.  They are given out by Tracfone to give a discount on adding minutes to your phone.  I always use Tracfone Bonus Codes when adding a Tracfone PIN to a phone because the coupon code will get you twenty to 300 minutes added to your phone.

How do I activate a Tracfone?
There are multiple ways to activate a Tracfone. The easiest is to go to the Tracfone website. You will click on the Activate and Reactivate button on the top of the web page. Then you will add the phone serial number which is in your prepaid menu.

Tracfone Serial numbers is either a 11, 15, or 18 digit number.  In the  Prepaid Menu on your phone you will be able to find the serial number of your phone.  The Tracfone.com website has step by step instructions on where to find your phone’s serial number.

If your phone has been active before you will have to add a phone card to activeate. If you just purchased your phone from Tracfone you will be able to activate your phone and get 20 free minutes and two months of service time.

How much does it cost to Activate your Tracfone?
It is free to Activate a Tracfone. Many prepaid cell phone companies charge $25 to $35 to activate your phone. Just adding a new minute card makes activating a Tracfone a bargain.

What does it cost to Reactivate my Tracfone?
After letting your Tracfone service expire they do not charge you a fee to restart your Tracfone Phone. You will have to buy a minute card to reactivate your phone but there is no extra Activation or cell phone reactivation fee.

You will have to buy a phone and a phone card. How does Tracfone Prepaid Work?
Three steps to using a Tracfone.

1. First you purchase a Phone.  Where to buy a Tracfone?

3. Add a Prepaid Tracfone Card.  It is quite easy. Where to buy Tracfone Minutes?

Add a Phone card
Add a new phone card every three months to continue your phone service. Phone cards range in price from $20 to $100.  With the smaller denomination the cards you get fewer minutes per dollor.  You can pay as high as 33 cents a minute on the twenty dollar card and as low as 8.8 cents per minute with the $80 cand and DMFL installed on your phone.

DMFL is Important
DMFL stands for Double minutes for Life.  Once installed on your  phone you will get double the minutes stated on the phone card.  I do not recommend using Tracfone if you do not have DMFL on your phone.  Many of the new Tracfones come with DMFL.

Running out of Minutes
If you use all of your minutes or activation period expires your Tracfone will no longer work.  If you allow your Tracfone service expire you will lose your phone number.  This really isn’t as bad as many prepaid phones which will charge you $25 or $35 to reactivate your phone.  There is not an activation or reactivation fee with Tracfone.
