If you are paying $40 a month on a contract cell phone cancel your contract. You heard me right. Unless it costs you a lot to cancel your contract you will save money and have more minutes to use if you go to Straight Talk Prepaid.

Who is Straight Talk Prepaid Wireless?

Straight Talk Wireless is a partnership between Verizon, Tracfone and Walmart.  The phones will only be sold at Walmart and online at Straight Talk.com.  All Straight Talk phones use the Verizon Wireless network.

Straight Talk has just started offering Two very inexpensive prepaid cell phone plans.

The $45 Unlimited plan includes unlimited calling, unlimited texting, unlimited data downloading to your phone, and unlimited 411 calls.

The $30 a monthly plan “All you Need” includes one thousand minutes, one thousand texts and 30 meg of data per month.  If you run out you can just add another card so if you are using 1500 minutes a month you will use one and a half cards a month which comes to $45 or you can go to the $45 unlimited plan.

Cell Phone Reception
The cell phone reception will be good because your phone will be on the Verizon network which is the largest (or second largest) in the United States.

So Should you Quit your Cell Phone Contract?

If your contract is over $45 a month and you can get out of it without paying a large end of contract charge then the answer is yes.   If you are not a heavy user of a phone and the $30 a month plan will work for you then you should also change to Straight Talk.  The $30 “All You Need” plan is a way better deal than most contracts that start you out with 400 monthly minutes and at least a $40 a month charge after taxes.

For most people one of the Straight Talk monthly plans will be the best value Cell Phone service available.

Unlimited Prepaid Texting ? Is that an oxymoron?

The major cell phone companies have raised there rates significantly on texting.   I think there are a couple of reasons.  Some People that text a lot do not talk much.  The Network companies want to get as much revenue out of heavy users as possible.

Here are some Prepaid Texting Options

Alltel Prepaid Texting
Alltel has been bought by Verizon.  Alltel has a plan that you can choose unlimited texting  for 75 cents per day.  Verizon will probably eliminate this plan when the takeover is complete.

Net10 prepaid Texting
Normally Net 10 charges .5 units to text.  If you buy one of the Super Net 10 phone 5 cent minute deals you can get minutes for 5 cents which means you will get texts for 2.5 cents each.

Net 10 is offering an Unlimited Plan that is $80 for 30 days.  This plan is payable in advance for one month on your charge or debit card.  You get unlimited calling to anyone and unlimited text messages to anyone for the month.  You can start or stop this plan without a penalty.

Tracfone Prepaid Texting
Tracfone normally charges .3 units per text.  They do not have an unlimited texting plan.

Verizon Prepaid Texting
Verizon has an unlimited texting prepaid plan.  If you pay an extra $10 per month you can get unlimited texting to other Verizon users.  If you pay an extra $20 a month you can get unlimited text messages to any cell phone.  You will be charge 99 cents per day for using your Verizon Pr
epaid Phone in addition to your monthly texting charge.
